Back Home

My camera is back home where it belongs.  I was so excited about this.  The thought was that it would be gone for two weeks. Yet it's only been one week, to the day, that it was shopped out.

Upon seeing the brown box sitting on the porch I actually let out a happy little "yippee".  I could hardly wait to open the box and see what had been fixed.  I did at least put the kids in the house before running to the door and bringing the box inside.

After dinner and jammies I took A outside to give the camera a quick 1-2 run through.  Everything seems to be okay.  They said they fixed the barrel on the lens, but I still don't think it's working correctly.  When I compare the pictures from tonight to the ones taken the first couple of days with the camera things just aren't as sharp.  It might just be the lens or maybe the user.  All I know is I'm a little sad now.  I was looking forward to the lens working like new.  But I'll just remain happy that it is home in time for friends coming to visit this weekend.

Here is the picture from tonight.  After being a little disappointed in the SOOC, I decided to play with the edits in Photoshop.  This is the end result.

Photoshop Actions

I finally learned how to install some actions into my Photoshop Elements 6.  Just thought I'd try one.  Top picture is the SOOC (straight out of the camera) and the bottom is the action.  What do you think?  Too soft?  Or do you like it?

Finally

I have been using Photoshop Elements to edit my pictures.  I'm not great at it, but have really tried to learn as much as I can in the little time that I have in the evenings after the kids go to bed.

Up until last night, I have been using version 2.0 to edit pictures.  To some of you that might not mean much, but lets just say I think I've had this for about 5+ years.  Anyway last night I finally had a chance to download the upgrade - which is version 6!

This is one of the first pictures to be edited using the new PSE.  What do you think?

Photoshop Fun

I have been spending time trying to learn more of the features in my Photoshop Elements program.  So I have been scouring the internet looking for different tips and tricks.

A few weeks ago I learned about textures and how to add them to your photos.  That has been a fun challenge in seeing what pictures look great with textures and which ones don't.

Yesterday I came across a blog for the Confessions of a Pioneer Woman.  I really enjoyed her entries.  As I went looking through some of them I came across an entry about her favorite photoshop tricks.  So of course I was interested in reading on and giving this a try.

Here are the results of my attempt at using a Hard Light layer in Photoshop Elements.

The first picture is with the Hardlight layer.  The second is the original.  I really like the results of adding this layer.  It just gives the pictures more depth.

Here are a few more:

The first one has a texture layer and a hardlight layer.  The second one is the original.

So what do you think?  Do you enjoy these "after" pictures as much as I do?

Superhero Challenge - Textures

This is my very first try at applying texture to my pictures.  I think I'm in love.  Tell me what you think.

Here is my second try at texture (with the original below).
